Folks on the Russian River have known The Woods Resort in Guerneville by a lot of names since it started operating in the 50s, including Camelot and Avalon. In 2006, in tribute to another longtime River institution, the name was changed to The Woods. The name came from the Original Woods Resort Sign that once was near Armstrong State Redwood Reserve.
The Woods is quiet at this time of year, with lots of elbow room. The old roses by the saltwater pool are still coming out of their winter slumber, but flowering trees and glorious irises add color to the sunny poolside patio. It’s the largest pool in full sun in the downtown Guerneville area, private and peaceful, surrounded by cozy clean cabins and cottages. The Woods is easy walking distance from downtown Guerneville and the Russian River.
The Woods features 19 rooms, with 4 basic hotel-style queen rooms. All remaining units have king beds. There are 5 cabins, 2 deluxe cabins, 2 balcony rooms, 2 ground-level rooms, and 4 cottages with full kitchen, separate bedrooms, and bath. Many cabins and cottages have gas fireplaces, and they all come equipped with flatscreen smart TVs.
You’re likely to make new friends and see old friends at The Woods. The guests are a friendly mixed group from all walks of life including LGBTQ+ from all over the world. Make a reservation today!
