Food For Thought

Founded in Guerneville, Healing with Food and Love Since 1988

Food For Thought provides life-sustaining groceries, meals, and loving support to people living with serious medical conditions and nutrition insecurity in Sonoma County—all free of charge.

What We Offer

  • Free Weekly Medically Tailored Groceries and Meals: Fresh produce, healthy proteins, nutritional supplements, and vitamins. Each household chooses which groceries and meals based not only on medical needs, but also personal and cultural preferences.
  • Nutrition Counseling: Guidance from registered dieticians to help people navigate their new or existing medical conditions.

Who We Serve

  • People living with HIV, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and other serious medical conditions in Sonoma County.
  • Pregnant mothers experiencing food insecurity with their families.
  • Those leaving an in-patient hospitalization.
  • Patients and clients of community partners who work with unhoused people living with HIV.

How You Can Get Involved

Food For Thought was built by volunteers, and are essential to our mission of providing healthy, medically tailored food to Sonoma County. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Gathering donations at a food drive
  • Filling orders in our food bank
  • Grocery deliveries to clients
  • Growing fresh produce in our garden
  • Helping at special events, such as Dining Out For Life

Volunteers are vital to helping us create a Sonoma County where everyone with medical need has access to nutritious food to heal and thrive.
