Walk half a mile down a steep trail to the beach at low tide. Learn about the algae that forms the base of the ocean's food chain. Meet some of the intertidal animals who feed on seaweed. After the hike, stay to try a cup of seaweed soup. Wear shoes you don't mind getting wet.

This 40+ hour course combines classroom and field experiences. Discussion topics include geology, water, weather, soils, plants, forests, wildlife, interpretation, environmental issues and citizen science. Students commit to weekly homework assignments and complete a capstone project of their choosing. Old Grove Festival

The Annual Old Grove Festival is held at the historic Redwood Forest Theater in Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve each September. The festival features an outstanding variety of musical and theatrical productions that help Stewards raise funds to support educational and stewardship programs, as well as continued advocacy for all State Parks.
