Inspired Birth, A Three Hour Intensive For Couples
In three hours, we’ll dive into the anatomy of a deeply connected birth experience; connection to your body, your partner, your baby and the magic of birth. This class is especially designed to support mothers and partners birthing in the hospital, birth center or home.
You’ll practice the essentials for an inspired birth; guided relaxation, partner communication, breathing techniques, massage and touch. Couples will leave with a shared language for birth that is rooted in the emotional terrain and physiology of the hormones of labor and contractions.
You’ll practice positions for grounding and tools for cultivating affirming communication through every contraction. You’ll build a body memory for relaxation and massage, opening your pelvic floor and hips, and connecting to your body through breath work. All of this will allow you and your partner to feel prepared and inspired about birth!
Cost of Class is $125 per couple
About the Instructor:
Kelly is a mother, educator and naturalist. She has been teaching her popular Holistic Childbirth Prep Workshop for over eight years in the Bay Area and North Bay, and spent five years attending low risk and high risk births in San Francisco. Prior to birth work, she was a labor organizer in public sector hospitals across California and she continues to use her skills as a community organizer to her support her work in the world of reproductive justice. Kelly was one of the co-founders of the Bay Area Doula Project, and has created numerous storytelling forums for folks to share their stories about birth, loss, and miscarriage. Kelly has curated an on-going column about reproductive experiences in SQUAT Birth Journal and her writing has been included in the anthology Birth Work As Care Work.
As a Certified California Naturalist, Kelly works to bring forth the wisdom of our animal bodies to birth with confidence. Kelly has partnered with Lara Sodergren, Licensed Midwife, to create Wild Lands Pregnancy, a nature group for pregnant folks and doula trainings.
She is happiest when she is with her daughter and dog in the woods, taking photographs of mushrooms and forest life, or working with owls at the Bird Rescue Center in Santa Rosa.
