A Beloved Farewell

A Beloved Farewell is a heartfelt local veterinary service created to support families through one of life’s most tender transitions—the death of a beloved animal companion. Founded by Ken Gorczyca, DVM, a veterinarian with over 30 years of experience and specialized training in end-of-life care, the practice blends expert medical care with the deep presence of a death doula.

Rooted in the natural beauty and close-knit spirit of the Russian River region, Dr. Ken has been a resident of Guerneville since 1987. His in-home euthanasia services allow pets to pass peacefully in familiar surroundings—on their favorite blanket, in a sunlit garden, at a quiet park, or by the beach—surrounded by loved ones, both human and animal. His approach honors the human-animal bond with reverence, compassion, and a gentle spirit.

Each farewell is tailored to the needs of the family, often incorporating ceremonial rituals such as blessings, Tibetan bells, sacred woods like sage or cedar, and story sharing.

To honor each animal’s life, Dr. Gorczyca creates personalized obituary poems, art photographs, and original songs that capture their spirit and the love they shared with their family. In addition to his veterinary work, he is also a visual artist who accepts commissions for animal companion portraits. His artwork can be viewed at www.kengorczyca.com.

Whether you're preparing for a gentle goodbye or navigating the tender days that follow, A Beloved Farewell is here to walk beside you with compassion and care. If you're unsure about next steps, we offer comforting telemedicine Quality of Life consultations to help guide your heart and mind. Proudly serving the Russian River and greater Sonoma County.
